Sophie True–President’s Address

Hi everyone! I’d first like to thank each and every single one of you for coming out tonight to support the club and gather together for one special moment with this group. Next I’d like to thank Anna White who served a great term this year and who has taught us all so much about leadership, unity, and strength.

Serving as the Drama Club President for the 2019-2020 term, I hope to keep some new traditions we’ve made this year such as the welcome party in the beginning of the year, and implement some new ones. I hope to create an organizational, for lack of a better term, young sibling older sibling program to bring the upperclassmen and lower classmen together and to bridge new relationships. I also hope to include the community in sharing our love for performing in ways such as workshops and potentially even a volunteer workshop for the elementary schoolers of this district in, “A Day of Theater”.

But enough about business. While business is important Drama Club is about the people. This Drama Club’s members take up approximately 10% of this entire school. That’s no small feat. Each of us is different. Each of us is one person with our own beliefs and talents. This includes our own doubts and troubles, and our own sadness and weakness. Each and every single person is different in their own beautiful way. And we all come together in unity to put together these spectacular productions that leave spellbinding impacts on the community. We all come together to create this magnificent art, all for everyone else.  After all, art is what keeps us human. We create something more than ourselves. And though we may feel alone, we are not alone.

Whether you see it or not we all feel alone. But that’s why we are here. We have a message that we have to share with the world. Because we all have something we need to get out of our system, something we need to release back into the world. No matter how different we are, we are all here for the same reason. Drama club is unity through diversity. Through this comes strength. We are a mighty force thanks to each and every single one of you, and I could not be more thrilled and excited to beginning this new journey with you.

To make this coming year great, I need the perspectives of every unique individual in this club. If you have any ideas, questions, and concerns, please share them with me.

And to each and every senior graduating this year, it was an absolute pleasure working with you for the past three years. I only wish the best in your abundant futures.

The truest, peace, love, and thanks to you all

Thank you very much
